Cold Water Immersion

Cold Water Immersion (CWI)

Cold Water Immersion (CWI) is a technique that has been used by humans for thousands of years to assist with improving health. While this form of recovery became very niche in the past couple hundred years, there is a resurgence of proponents using cold immersion for its therapeutic benefits.

Cold water immersion involves submerging your entire body in water that is below 15˚C. This quickly lowers your body’s internal temperature and can provide you with a lot of different health benefits.

Your CWI session at Float Valley

Take a meditative shower as you prepare yourself for the cold immersion tub. As you lower yourself into the 1-3C water your body will tell you to get out but your host will guide you along and will be right there by your side encouraging you to stay. After the first 30 seconds, you will regain control of your breath and your body will settle into the sensation.

The host will continue to be by your side sharing with you what is taking place in your body and all the benefits that come with that. The experience will include music to help you focus on your breathing. When you are ready you will slowly rise up and step out of the tub feeling a sense of fulfillment, joy, and empowerment like none other. Shower off and head into the infrared sauna or enjoy a cup of tea in our waiting area.

Metabolic Rate

Although regular exercise and healthy eating are major factors in maintaining a healthy weight, ice baths can help, if combined with a proper diet and exercise routine, to burn calories for hours after exposure. Repeated cold exposure can help to reset the body’s metabolic rate and naturally increase the body’s metabolism for many hours after each session.

  • Increases circulation and elimination of toxins from the blood and body
  • Boosts metabolic rate
  • Resets the body’s natural metabolic level
