Float FAQ

The water is fully filtered 3 times between each float, passing through a hot tub caliber filter (10 micron) and a UV filter. The Epsom salts are a natural disinfectant and there is an extremely high concentration in the water. We also put a small amount of a disinfectant (hydrogen peroxide) which also keeps the tank extremely clean and safe.

For those that are very claustrophobic we suggest you use our Ocean Float Cabins which have very high ceilings and don’t give you the feeling of being enclosed in a small space. For those that are not as bothered we urge you to try the Oasis tanks as they are also very large and roomy. Your environment is in your control throughout your session so if you feel like leaving the tank door open until you are comfortable that is also acceptable. Many people with extreme claustrophobia have reported having no problems at all during their session and some even find that floating helps ease their symptoms.

After every use, an array of filters and cleaning agents are applied to the water. Every week we perform an extensive, in-depth maintenance of the facility and our tanks. We add fresh Epsom salt and water, with the entire volume being replaced over a period of 10 weeks. Between the super-concentrated salt solution, an approved disinfectant agent (hydrogen peroxide), a UV light disinfectant filter, and 10-micron cartridge filter, these are probably the cleanest recreational water sources you’ll encounter!

The best way to tell is to check if the water running through your hair in the shower at home is fully clear. We recommend a few days for blonde hair dye and a week for darker colors. Those with more vibrant colors like red and blue may have to wait up till a month or more before floating.

Don’t drink coffee for several hours beforehand (it can make your system jittery). Also, don’t shave or wax since the salt water can irritate your skin. Eating a light meal about an hour to 90 minutes ahead of time stops your stomach from grumbling and feeling hungry. Other than that, there’s no specific preparation needed. Check out our detailed recommendations before you arrive!

If you have longer hair, you may want to bring a comb. Also, something to put your contact lenses into while you’re in the tank. Other than that, we provide everything you need (towels, robes, earplugs, body wash/shampoo, blow dryer, etc.)

We have 4 Oasis float tanks and 2 Ocean float cabins with plans to add 2 more cabins.

Our facilities are fully accessible for special need customers in a wheel chair. This includes our float cabins, entry doors, and washrooms. However, the float tanks are not accessible if you use a wheelchair. As for other conditions, please contact us if you are unsure if you can float. We have dealt with many different ailments and situations and want to make sure everyone is floating safely and comfortably. Floating can be good for many different conditions but for some like low blood pressure and epilepsy it should be avoided.

Only one person per tank. Fortunately, we do have 6 float rooms so bring your friends, family and loved ones to float too!

No. Some people fall asleep, but the water is so buoyant that you stay afloat. The worst that can happen is getting woken up by a bit of salt water in your eyes.

Floating has been around for over 40 years and has hundreds of published research to back up its benefits. See our More About Floating page for more information.

Your float room will have an area for you to hang your jacket and keep your clothes during your session. The room has two locks to protect your privacy and your belongings.

Yes. We have the option of booking back to back floats which give you 2.5 hours of floating time (since no change over is needed). Also, if no one is scheduled to float after you, we’ll always offer to extend your float.

As the water is heavily saturated with salt you want to try your best to avoid getting any water in your eyes or mouth as it can be uncomfortable. We provide a pump water bottle to spray your face in case this happens.

Nope – your skin doesn’t even prune up at all! The magnesium sulfate actually makes your skin very silky and soft. You will absorb some of the Epsom salt, so it’s advised that you drink plenty of water or tea after your float.

When your session is complete you will hear some calm music fade in. This is your signal to leave the tank and begin showering.
